Neighborhood to get free energy audit

Grant is 'a no-brainer opportunity,' says SEEDS director

TRAVERSE CITY — Residents in one Traverse City neighborhood will have a chance to receive a free energy audit thanks to a grant from the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth. The weatherization "sweep" project will educate homeowners how to reduce energy costs and support minor home improvements. Grants also will support minor home improvements, and residents will have access to low-interest loans for further upgrades. Staff members from SEEDS, a local nonprofit organization, and the Michigan Land Use Institute will begin contacting eligible homeowners this fall.
