Tickets available for Empty Bowls

TRAVERSE CITY — Tickets are available for an upcoming fundraiser to combat hunger.

Empty Bowls, now in its ninth year, is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 at the Hagerty Center in Traverse City. The event benefits the local Fresh Food Partnership, a collection of agencies that aims to increase access to fresh, local foods.

Costs are $15 for the lunch meal, music, a silent auction and more. Tickets can be found at Oryana Natural Foods Market, 260 E. 10th St. in Traverse City; Artcenter Traverse City, 720 S. Elmwood Ave., Suite 3, in Traverse City; and the Land Information Access Association, or LIAA, 324 Munson Ave. in Traverse City.

Tickets also can be purchased at the door.

Housing project 'moving forward'

Traverse City commissioners recently approved what officials expect to be the last change in long-running negotiations to sell city property near the former railroad depot off Eighth Street to two affordable housing agencies.
