Area residents join protest at Capitol

90 people add their voices to event

TRAVERSE CITY — Two buses left Traverse City early Wednesday for a rally at the Capitol. About 90 local people attended, said Pat Maher, a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local No. 7, who coordinated transportation.

Participants said they went inside the Capitol during legislative sessions and listened to speakers, including Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, last fall's Democratic challenger to Republican Gov. Rick Snyder.
