TCAPS may cut nearly $8M from budget

TRAVERSE CITY — Administrators in Traverse City's public schools soon will issue a formal list of proposed budget cuts worth nearly $8 million, a move that could come in two weeks.

School board members likely will debate the recommendations throughout April and May before the 2011-12 budget is adopted in June.

Traverse City Area Public Schools faces a general fund shortfall of about $7.7 million for next year, up from a February projection of $6.1 million.
