Affordable housing workshops planned

TRAVERSE CITY -- Two workshops on affordable housing will be held next month by the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments' Community Housing Choices program.

The sessions will be Aug. 3 at Bear Creek Township Hall near Petoskey, and Aug. 10 at Charlevoix Public Library. Both start at 7 p.m. The program will review financial, regulatory and other issues that impact affordable housing development, and how zoning, housing trust funds and land bank authorities can be utilized to expand housing opportunities.

Fallen piece of wire causes power outage
