TRAVERSE CITY — Plans to improve Division Street will hinge on a ballot proposal to be put before city voters this fall.
City commissioners on Monday agreed to put a proposition on the Nov. 6 election ballot to ask voters to approve using up to 30 feet of city park land along Division Street between Eighth and 14th streets to accommodate street upgrades. Ballot wording for the proposal still needs approval.
Commissioners passed on two other possible ballot questions this fall. The commission won't seek a park land vote on creating a potential route for the so-called 8½th Street off Division to link to Munson Medical Center; they also decided against seeking voter approval for potential sale of excess land at the east end of Oakwood Cemetery.
