TRAVERSE CITY -- The region's construction sector hit bottom in 2009.
New building in Grand Traverse County recorded its lowest level of the past decade last year, and construction dropped significantly in the surrounding counties. Despite a few bright spots, the building industry continues to shed hundreds of jobs as state and national economic woes continue to pummel a sector that enjoyed record construction levels just a few years ago.
