INDIAN RIVER -- A 70-year-old Cheboygan County man has died in a snowmobile accident in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula.
The Cheboygan County Sheriff's Department says Donald Carver, of Indian River, lost control of his sled and struck several trees. They say he was thrown from the machine as it caught fire.
WWTV-TV in Traverse City says the crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. Friday on a trail in Mentor Township between Indian River and Wolverine.
Indian River is about 30 miles south of Mackinaw City.
