TRAVERSE CITY — A Kalkaska man faces a felony drunken-driving charge after another motorist said he passed out behind the wheel.
Grand Traverse County authorities this week charged Tate Allen Andrews, 25, as a habitual offender with felony drunken driving and driving on a suspended license.
A fellow motorist this week reported seeing Andrews veer off Elk Lake Road. The man walked up to Andrews' vehicle and found him unresponsive, court records show.
He called 911 and Andrews eventually woke up. Andrews told Grand Traverse sheriff's deputies he consumed "way too much" alcohol, court records show.
A preliminary breath test showed Andrews had blood-alcohol levels of 0.14 percent. Andrews has two prior drunken driving convictions.
