Park Place disturbance lands 2 in jail

TRAVERSE CITY — A man and woman are in jail after an incident at the Park Place Hotel.

A Traverse City Police officer responded early Wednesday to a disturbance at the downtown landmark.

Authorities said a 27-year-old man from Traverse City confronted the officer, shouted at then charged the officer, who was able to bring him to the ground. Another officer arrived and they arrested him for drunk and disorderly conduct.

Police said the suspect and a woman were drunk when they entered the hotel lobby and broke an ornament on a Christmas tree. When a female desk clerk told them to leave, the man grabbed and assaulted her. Witnesses intervened and pushed him outside, where he was found by the police.

The woman, 29, of Suttons Bay, refused to leave the hotel and was later arrested for trespassing.
