Two incumbents seek return to NMC Board

TRAVERSE CITY — Two incumbents seek re-election to the Northwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees and will face challengers for open six-year terms.

Kennard Weaver, 70, a retired attorney from Peninsula Township, and Bruce Byl, 55, of Traverse City, will challenge incumbents in the countywide race to oversee the community college.

Byl, who works in real estate for Northwestern Bank, is chairman of the board for NMC's foundation.

Incumbents Cheryl Gore Follette, 56, an attorney, and Bob Brick, 59, a real estate agent and developer, both have filed to seek another term.

The top two finishers in the November general election win the seats.
