Charge issued in 2011 Benzie drug death

BEULAH — Authorities charged a woman with a crime in a Benzie County man's March 2011 overdose drug death.

Lisa Michelle Woodhall, 28, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance causing death. Michigan State Police Detective Lt. Daniel King said investigators believe she supplied heroin that killed Michael Lee Everett, 21, on March 6, 2011.

Everett, a 2007 graduate of Benzie Central High School, was found unresponsive in his Beulah residence with a syringe nearby. Woodhall, who spoke to the Record-Eagle not long after Everett's death, said he injected himself while she also used the drug. She was his girlfriend at the time.

Police hope to arrest Woodhall soon. Right now, they don't know her whereabouts.

"We've tried to locate her at a number of different locations, and we've not been able to do so," King said.

The Benzie County Sheriff's Department completed the investigation along with the state police-led Traverse Narcotics Team, a multi-jurisdictional task force.

"It's good to see a warrant issued," said Benzie Sheriff Rory Heckman. "Obviously, these things require lengthy investigation, and it took a while to put everything together. I'm sure it's going to be good for the family to get some closure."

Everett's death was one of several overdose deaths in the region last year.

Anyone who has information about Woodhall's whereabouts can contact the Benzie sheriff's department at (231) 882-4484 or TNT at (231) 922-0993.
