Guests perform with Jeff Haas Trio
Traverse City — Vocalist Ray Kamalay and saxophonist Bill Sears will perform with the Jeff Haas Trio on Thursday for Jazz at Sunset.
Kamalay and Sears both have toured and recorded with an eclectic array of high-profile musicians. They will join Haas, bassist Jack Dryden and drummer Randy Marsh from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Chateau Chantal, 15900 Rue de Vin, to play classics by Ellington, Gershwin, Thelonius Monk and Miles Davis, plus originals by Haas.

Summer events at the Leelanau School
Glen Arbor — Star gazing and bonfires are on the schedule this summer on the beach at the Leelanau School.
Lanphier Observatory will host public star gazing through a 14-inch telescope from 10:30 p.m. to midnight, weather permitting, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 26. The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
The Beach Bards will recite by-heart poetry, tell stories and more around a bonfire on Fridays, July 2 through Aug. 13. The evening starts at 7:30 p.m. with Children's Hour. Admission is $1 per person.

City seeking applicants for DDA
The city seeks applicants for its downtown development authority.
The DDA works to promote business growth in the downtown sector of the city. Applicants must be a city resident or have an ownership interest in an entity that owns property downtown.
Those interested in serving should contact the city clerk's office at 922-4480. Applications are due by July 9.
