TRAVERSE CITY —

The National Cherry Festival saluted heroes of yesterday and today during the second annual Heroes' Day on Monday.

Festival goers serving in all branches of the Armed Forces, as well as firefighters, first responders, public safety and Homeland Security personnel were recognized with a Festival Hero Medallion.

A day long display of first response vehicles in the Open Space was followed by "A Salute to Heroes" by the Northwestern Michigan College Community and Jazz Band, along with the Cherry Capital Chorus. Patriotic favorites were performed on the Bay Side Music Stage.
