TRAVERSE CITY — Authorities issued an arrest warrant for a Holly man whose DNA ties him to a 2009 Traverse City break-in.
Steven Kruz Holling, 22, is charged with one count of breaking and entering a building with intent, punishable by 10 years.
In August 2009, Traverse City police responded to a break-in at the Lifer Skateboard Shop on East Front Street. The owner told police someone broke through a glass window and stole several hundred dollars' worth of skateboards, backpacks and other accessories.
Police collected bloodstains at the scene, and Michigan State Police extracted DNA from the samples. The DNA matched Holling's profile in a national database, according to court records. A city detective then obtained a second sample from Holling that matched the blood found at the shop.
