Owner forfeits horses to groups

TRAVERSE CITY — Five mistreated horses won't go back to the property where they were neglected.

Danelle Round and Nikita Booth agreed to forfeit the horses during an 86th District Court hearing this morning. Judge Michael Haley ordered a forfeiture even though the women agreed to give up the animals.

Round, 39, was charged and later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of abandoning or being cruel to animals after police said she starved seven horses on her Fife Lake-area property. Two were euthanized, and the others were taken away for care.
