Acme board OKs ambulance plan

ACME — Residents will soon have nearby advanced life support ambulance service following a decision by the Acme Township Board to house North Flight EMS at its township fire station.

Acme Township’s board voted just before midnight Tuesday to contract with Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department to provide ambulance drivers at a cost of $82,300 a year. The township will need to levy 0.3 mills of property tax to support the ambulance operation.

North Flight, a division of Munson Healthcare, will provide the ambulance, a paramedic, and all supplies. The targeted start date is July 15.
