TRAVERSE CITY -- A Maple City man faces a felony drug charge after deputies allegedly found methadone in his possession during a traffic stop.
Chad Hedrick, 25, was charged Monday with possession of less than 25 grams of a mixture that contained methadone.
Grand Traverse sheriff's deputies pulled over a vehicle last week in which Hedrick was a passenger. Deputies observed the methadone pills, but Hedrick did not have a prescription for the controlled substance, according to court records. He was arrested Feb. 2.
Methadone is used in clinics to help combat drug addictions, but also is commonly prescribed by physicians for pain management.
The felony is punishable by up to four years in prison and/or $25,000. His preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 22.
