Eighth grade students at Kingsley Middle School put their readings skills to the test in the school gymnasium during a schoolwide Battle of the Books contest.
Students were divided into teams with each team member responsible for reading and mastering at least one novel.
All the teams competed in a bracketed reading comprehension trivia competition by grade level on Wednesday. Members of the winning teams from each grade received a $10 BAM! book store gift card.
Kingsley Middle School Principal Vaughn White said the competition gets students in older grade levels excited about reading.
“It’s just one more way to encourage kids to set aside time to read, which we’re all about at Kingsley Middle School.”
