TRAVERSE CITY — Work will begin in a couple of weeks to repair an alley along the Boardman River.
The Traverse City commission on Monday approved a special improvement district to pay for reconstruction on the alley north of East Front Street's 200 block.
Officials said the city will pick up about 75 percent of the project's estimated $136,565 cost, with other property owners paying the remainder.
Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Bryan Crough said construction work will cause alley closures at times. He hopes to have work completed before Memorial Day.
