Cherry Festival brings peak power load

FROM STAFF REPORTS
----

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Light & Power hit a peak load during the National Cherry Festival.

Between high temperatures and crowds, Light & Power hit 61 megawatts. No outages or distribution problems were reported.

Summertime is the traditional time for peak energy usage, mainly because of air conditions.

The community-owned utility encourages lower air conditioner settings, ceiling fans, compact fluorescent light bulbs and window shades to save on money and usage.
