KALKASKA — The American Red Cross of Northwest Michigan is starting a Community Action Team in Kalkaska County.
The agency provides food, clothing and shelter, along with health and mental health services, when a disaster threatens or strikes.
Community Action Team members can help with teaching CPR, first aid and family preparedness. Team members also host blood drives, send emergency communications for active duty service members and other activities.
Volunteers are needed to provide such assistance in preparing for and when responding to emergencies.
An orientation meeting will be held Aug. 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kalkaska Chamber of Commerce, 353 S. Cedar St. in Kalkaska.
