TRAVERSE CITY — Nominations are being accepted for the city's annual Sara Hardy Humanitarian Award.
The award is presented by the Traverse City Human Rights Commission and honors an individual who works to promote understanding and respect among people and to discourage discrimination. It's named in honor of Sara Hardy for her efforts to establish the city's Human Rights Commission more than 30 years ago.
Nominations should be made by letter and include the nominee's name, address, telephone number, humanitarian activities he or she is involved in and reasons for the nomination. Persons making the nomination also must include their name and phone number in the letter. The deadline is Feb. 1 and nominations should be submitted to the city's Human Rights Commission, 400 Boardman Ave., Traverse City, MI 49684. They also can be faxed to 922-4476.
The award will be presented at the March 19 city commission meeting.
