Motorcyclist dies in OM Peninsula crash

TRAVERSE CITY — A Florida man died in a motorcycle accident on Old Mission Peninsula.

Grand Traverse sheriff’s officials said the man, 30, was driving south on Center Road Tuesday at about 9:30 p.m. when a car headed north turned left onto Gray Road. The man was thrown from his motorcycle when they collided.

Deputies, rescue personnel from Peninsula Fire/EMS and Northflight responded, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He wore a helmet.

The driver of the car — a 24-year-old Kalkaska man — received minor injuries. Two other passengers were not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
