HARBOR SPRINGS — An Emmet County woman died after crashing her vehicle into a horse that had become loose, authorities said.
Terri Ann Sholberg, 42, of Harbor Springs, died Tuesday at the scene of the accident on Stutsmanville Road, east of State Road in the county's Friendship Township.
Sholberg struck the horse with her 1998 Subaru shortly before 5:11 a.m. Tuesday, Sheriff Pete Wallin said. Hers was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
The horse apparently wandered away from the home of its owner, Daniel Truman, also of Harbor Springs, Wallin said. The animal was killed in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate.
