MANISTEE —
Authorities arrested a man they believe committed an armed robbery at a Manistee business.
Police said a 29-year-old Manistee man was arrested Saturday after his vehicle was stopped near U.S. 31 and Merkey Road. Police said they made the traffic stop after they developed information that the man was a suspect in the Jan. 25 armed robbery at Admiral Tobacco Store in Filer Township, an incident in which authorities said the robber used a handgun and took money from store employees.
A handgun was recovered from the man’s vehicle during the traffic stop and he was arrested and jailed on suspicion of armed robbery, possession of an unregistered handgun, and driving without a license.
