2:12 pm: Odgers, Fox receive Hardy awards

BY ART BUKOWSKI

TRAVERSE CITY — Advocates for the homeless and the disabled received this year’s Sara Hardy Humanitarian Award.

Susan Odgers and the family of Eugene Fox received the awards in a Monday presentation at the Governmental Center. Fox, an advocate for the region’s homeless, died in January.

Odgers, who writes a regular column for The Record-Eagle, works in various capacities to advocate for those with disabilities and promote diversity in the region.

The award is presented annually by the Traverse City Human Rights Commission, which gathers nominations from the public. It’s named after Sara Hardy, who helped found the commission.
