— BEULAH - The Red Cross is opening shelters in Benzie and Kalkaska counties for people without power and in need of heat.
A warming center is open in Grand Traverse County as well.
The shelters are at:
-- Fresh Wind Christian Community Center, 9780 Honor Highway, Honor. Currently open and could become an overnight shelter if needed.
-- The Maples Medical Center, 210 Maple Ave., Frankfort. Currently open and could become an overnight shelter if needed.
-- Benzie Bus Garage, 14150 US Highway 31, Beulah. Opening at 3 p.m. Overnight shelter.
-- Kalkaska United Methodist Church, 2525 Beebe Road NE, Kalkaska. Opening at 3 p.m. Overnight shelter.
In Grand Traverse County the Salvation Army at 1239 Barlow St. in Traverse City is being used as a warming center only.
Shelters provide food, water and overnight stays as needed.
