Schools to stay closed due to flu

TRAVERSE CITY — Two Traverse City schools will remain closed Monday after administrators said students continue to report flu-like symptoms.

The decision to close West Middle School a third school day came Sunday evening. West also was closed Thursday and Friday after about 250 students said they felt ill.

Blair Elementary also will be closed Monday. Administrators will assess the situation at both schools to determine when classes will resume.

Parents described a number of flu-like symptoms Sunday when they updated their children's conditions, district spokeswoman Alison Arnold said.
