League of Women Voters to meet today

SUTTONS BAY -- The League of Women Voters' Leelanau unit will meet today at noon and feature a presentation by Bill Queen, of the Michigan Energy Demonstration Center at Northwestern Michigan College.

Queen's program will focus on home energy savings, weatherization and retrofitting a home for clean energy use.

Queen is a certified building analyst. He played a key role in the development of the Michigan Energy Demonstration Center at NMC, as well as developing courses in energy efficiency, solar power, wind power and biodiesel and fuel cells.

The League meets in the Community Room of the Leelanau County Government Center. League meetings are open to the public. Everyone is welcome. A short business meeting will follow the talk. For more information, contact Vina Mikesell at 386-5106.

Housing project 'moving forward'

Traverse City commissioners recently approved what officials expect to be the last change in long-running negotiations to sell city property near the former railroad depot off Eighth Street to two affordable housing agencies.
