TRAVERSE CITY — Two men who assaulted another man outside a downtown bar are headed to prison.
Thirteenth Circuit Court Judge Thomas G. Power on Thursday sentenced Gary L. Ellis and Christopher L. Hildreth each to a minimum of three years in prison.
The two on Dec. 6 were convicted of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder after a joint jury trial.
A man told Traverse City police that Hildreth, 27, of Traverse City and Ellis, 27, of Jackson, attacked him on Sept. 22 outside the Loading Dock bar in Traverse City.
The victim was taken to Munson Medical Center for treatment of multiple severe head injuries, and court records indicate he will require multiple surgeries over a period of months.
