Police arrest boater

TRAVERSE CITY — Police arrested a boater who they said had too much to drink.

Traverse City police went to the Boardman River boat launch on Saturday at about 6 p.m. on an assault report. A man, 48, said another man verbally and physically assaulted him. The victim said he was attempting to launch his boat when the suspect got off his boat, which was in the water, and assaulted him.

The suspect, 33, told police he was angry because the victim was taking too much time to launch his boat. Officers found he was over the 0.10 legal limit to operate a watercraft and arrested him.
