TCL&P celebrates 100th anniversary

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Light and Power will celebrate its 100th anniversary with special activities at Friday Night Live downtown this week.

Events will include demonstrations of a utility bucket truck, a bicycle that powers light bulbs and other energy-related displays. The utility also will give away free hard hats to children and CFL light bulbs while supplies last. There also will be a history table to highlight Light & Power's century of operations.

Friday Night Live starts at 5:30 p.m. along the 100 and 200 blocks of East Front Street downtown. More information on Light & Power's 100th anniversary is available on the utility's website at www.tclp.org.

Memorial Day: Weather, gas prices and highway enforcement
