TRAVERSE CITY — Authorities found a downstate man dead beneath a tractor near Fife Lake.
Grand Traverse sheriff’s deputies went to a parcel off Fife Lake Road Friday afternoon after an associate of a Warren man wanted someone to check on him. The man, 63, had been in the area clearing stumps, trees and debris.
Deputies found him pinned under a tractor. They believe the tractor flipped on him as he tried to pull a stump or tree out.
It appears the man had been dead for an extended period, though it’s not clear if he survived the flip. Officials wouldn’t release his name because his body hasn’t yet been positively identified.
