Benzie County

-- Memorial Day pancake breakfast, 7-11:30 a.m., $6 adults, $3.50 ages 5-10, free ages 4 and younger; Benzie Central High School, Homestead Road, Benzonia; advance tickets from Benzie Kiwanians or at the Hungry Tummy, Beulah.

-- Paradise Valley American Legion Post #436 of Kingsley has scheduled Memorial Day services for 9:15 a.m. at Grawn Cemetery; 9:30 a.m., Monroe Center Cemetery; 9:50 a.m., Downs Cemetery; 10:20 a.m., St. Marys of Hannah Cemetery; 10:50 a.m., Barnum Cemetery; and 11:30 a.m., Evergreen Cemetery.

-- Grand Traverse Area Veterans Coalition will sponsor Memorial Day events, 10 a.m., keynote address by retired U.S. Army National Guard Brigadier General Mitchell LeClaire, colors presented by U.S. Coast Guard Air Station, 21-gun salute by Camp Grayling Rifle Squad, a spiritual reflection by the Rev. Gabe Fox from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, "The Gettysburg Address" recited by Mark Grinder, Jack O'Malley will serve as master of ceremonies; at Oakwood Cemetery, East Eighth Street, TC, also broadcast on WTCM 580 AM; ceremony followed by open house at the American Legion, Hastings Street, TC; 922-2119.

n Memorial Day Peace Portrait, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., photo of all "peace-minded individuals" who wish to participate, followed by short presentations by Traverse for Peace and Justice, Mideast: JustPeace and the Campaign Against Torture, Grand Traverse County Governmental Center, 400 Boardman Ave., TC; the group also will march to the Open Space to join the Veterans for Peace white cross vigil. -- Interlochen VFW 7493 Memorial Day services, will start at 11 a.m. at Inland Township Cemetery, U.S. 31 west of Interlochen; 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, U.S. 31 west of Interlochen; and noon at Green Lake Memorial Park, south of Interlochen.

Leelanau County

-- Memorial Day Service, 10 a.m., Leelanau Township Cemetery, Northport.

Manistee County

-- American Legion Read-Osborne Post No. 531 will conduct Memorial Day services at the following times and places: 8 a.m. Flag Raising ceremony, Legion Hall, Copemish; 8:15 a.m., Nessen City Cemetery; 8:30 a.m., Nessen City Catholic Cemetery; 8:45, a.m. Grant Township Cemetery; 9 a.m., Cornell Cemetery; 9:30, a.m. Minar Cemetery; 9:45 a.m., Marilla Cemetery; 10:30 a.m., participants will take a break at the Legion Hall; 11 a.m. service at Springdale Township Cemetery; 11:30 a.m., Pleasonton Cemetery; noon Thompsonville Cemetery; and 12:30 p.m., Cleon Township Cemetery.
