TRAVERSE CITY -- A Grawn woman is charged with breaking into a Traverse City business.
Crystal Autumn Hoffman, 34, is charged as a habitual offender with breaking and entering a building with intent and larceny in a building. She hadn't been arrested Friday morning.
The owner of a gym on Garfield Avenue told police he discovered money missing from the cash registers in his business May 12, court records show. He watched surveillance tapes and told police he saw a woman walk into the store, go directly to where the spare register key is kept and then to each register.
Hoffman is a former gym employee who did not return her door key when she left employment, authorities said, and the person on the surveillance tapes is consistent with her size, weight and body type.
