Two suffer burns in boat explosion

CHARLEVOIX -- Two men were burned after their boat exploded on Lake Charlevoix while docked in the Ironton Narrows.

Mark Steven Trimper, 41, of Traverse City, attempted to start the vessel shortly before 7 p.m. Friday when the boat exploded and caught fire, the Charlevoix County Sheriff's Department reported.

Trimper and passenger Samuel Charles Supernaw Jr., 41, of Charlevoix, were both treated for second degree burns at Charlevoix Area Hospital and released. The accident remains under investigation.
