NORTHPORT -- Golfers are sought for a fundraiser this month on behalf of the Northport Promise scholarship fund.
Scheduled for May 30 at the Northport Point Golf Club, the event includes nine holes of golf, lunch and prizes. Of the $100 registration fee, $60 will be tax-deductible and go toward the Promise.
College scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors based on how long they attended Northport Public School. It is modeled after the Kalamazoo Promise, which funds tuition and fees for as many as four years.
This year's Northport recipients will be named in coming weeks.
