TRAVERSE CITY -- An Antrim County man faces a felony count and other charges following a drunken driving arrest.
Edmund McGehee Barbee Jr., 43, of Rapid City, was arrested Monday by a Grand Traverse Sheriff's deputy for allegedly driving drunk in Garfield Township. A preliminary breath test recorded nearly twice the legal limit, court records show.
Barbee has five previous drunken driving convictions, including arrests in Grand Traverse County in 1988 and 2001, in Antrim County in 1995 and 1999 and in Kalkaska County in 1998.
Barbee was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving on a revoked license. He is scheduled to be arraigned June 17 and faces up to five years in prison.
