TRAVERSE CITY -- The Michigan Secretary of State's office will close for two days for the Fourth of July holiday weekend due in part to a mandatory unpaid furlough day for state employees.
Offices will close both July 3 and July 6. Driver's licenses and vehicle registrations that expire between July 3 and July 6 can be renewed July 7 without paying a late fee. Customers are encouraged to renew in advance because branch offices are busier before and after the scheduled closing.
