Woman charged in boyfriend's death

Everett died of heroin overdose in March 2011

BEULAH — A woman who authorities said supplied the heroin that killed her boyfriend in Benzie County has been charged with a felony.

Lisa Michelle Woodhall, 28, was charged with one count of delivery of a controlled substance causing death. She is held in the Benzie County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Benzie County Sheriff Rory Heckman said investigators believe Woodhall supplied her boyfriend, Michael Lee Everett, 21, of Beulah, with the heroin that killed him in March 2011.

"These are drugs that came up from downstate," Heckman said. "He died of an acute heroin overdose."

Everett's death was one of three in Benzie County attributed to heroin in 2011.

Woodhall told the Record-Eagle in a 2011 interview that she did heroin with Everett, but she wasn't responsible for his death.

"Everybody thinks I killed him," she said. "I didn't kill him. I'm so tired of people saying that. They can investigate, but I didn't kill him. If they do arrest me, it's going to be false."

Woodhall moved out of Benzie County, to Wisconsin, since Everett's death. A warrant was issued for her arrest and she surrendered to authorities in Wood County, Wis., and was extradited to Michigan this week.
