DDA recommends doubling peddlers fee

FROM STAFF REPORTS

---- — TRAVERSE CITY-- The fee peddlers pay to operate downtown would double under a recommendation from the Downtown Development Authority.

The board on Friday recommended the fee charged to transient vendors increase from $50 a day to $100 a day. The item now moves to the city commission for approval.

DDA officials said it costs the city more than $50 a day to issue peddler permits and enforce rules. A DDA committee will continue to meet to consider a policy on food trucks and carts.
