TRAVERSE CITY -- The deadline to nominate someone for a local group's Environmentalist of the Year is Thursday.
The winner will be announced at the Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council's annual banquet April 16. It is one of a dozen awards that will be presented; others include journalism and communications, public service or public office, education, business, student, general and bioneer of the year.
The banquet is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. at the Park Place Dome. Tickets are $20, available online at www.nmeac.org or at the door.
Speakers including J. Carl Ganter of Circle of Blue, talking about the world water crisis; and NMEAC President Ken Smith.
