Bryant Park is safe for swimming

TRAVERSE CITY — Bryant Park is safe for swimming, local health officials said.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department tested the water at Bryant Park on Thursday, following an elevated E. coli reading in a sample taken on Wednesday. The first test showed E. coli levels were not safe for contact with the water above the waist, but the following test shows full body contact is now safe.

The E.coli reading dropped from a 433 count per 100 mL on Wednesday to a 65 count per 100 mL on Thursday, now well within the state's safe swimming standards.
