Of the many film festival specials and sales offered at local businesses, one stands out as making sense AND being nice. During Friday's panel session with Cuban dignitaries, director Juan Carlos Cremata Malberti ("Viva Cuba") said his next film is "thisclose" to being done. He needs about $10,000 to finish the mixing and color correcting, he said, while casting a wistful look at Michael Moore.
Moore got the hint. He said he'd have a link at www.traversecityfilmfestival.org sometime next week. If Traverse Citians donate $1 each, Moore will match the donations up to $10,000 with the goal of raising $20,000 to split between Malberti and director Ian Padron ("Dreaming in Blue").
