TRAVERSE CITY — A man is at Munson Medical Center after police said he tried to kill himself when they attempted to arrest him on Northwestern Michigan College's campus.
An 86th District Court Probation officer contacted the Traverse City Police Department Monday regarding a suspect, 24, who was wanted on a warrant. Officers found the man shortly after noon Monday at NMC, where he was expected to attend a class, and tried to arrest him.
Police said the suspect had a premixed combination of substances, including drugs and bleach, that he ingested in an attempt to kill himself. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and transported the man to Munson for treatment.
