Car slides into Crystal River

Glen Lake firefighters helped a woman out of her vehicle after it went into the Crystal River on Monday at about 10 p.m.

The woman lost control as she turned off M-22 onto County Road 675 and slid into the river, authorities said.

Firefighters in coldwater rescue suits helped the woman, 27, of Birmingham, out of her vehicle. She wasn't injured, and authorities pulled the car out of the river.

Cars drive into the river near that intersection at least every few years, Glen Lake Fire Chief John Dodson said. He believes a guardrail is needed.
