2 pm: Pure Michigan vote stalled

TRAVERSE CITY — A downstate traffic crash delayed the state Senate's planned vote on continued funding for the Pure Michigan tourism campaign.

State Sen. Jason Allen, R-Traverse City, said that today's scheduled vote on a $9.5 million appropriation to the Michigan Promotion Fund was postponed after several Detroit-area lawmakers were unable to get to Lansing this morning.

A 6:30 a.m. semi-trailer crash along westbound I-96 near the Oakland County line closed interstate and prevented some lawmakers from being able to get to Lansing for the scheduled vote, Allen said.

The Senate is expected to take up the funding bill when it reconvenes Tuesday. The proposed $9.5 million appropriation would be added to $5.4 million already in the budget for a total Pure Michigan campaign of almost $15 million.
