TRAVERSE CITY -- A Traverse City Area Public Schools custodian faces a host of felony charges tied to naked images of a child police said they found on his computer.
Walter Edward Lucas, 40, is charged with a single count of using computers to commit a crime, five counts of child sexually abusive activity and one count of stalking a minor.
TCAPS placed Lucas, a custodian with the district since 1997, on unpaid suspension Feb. 18. He'll remain on suspension pending the outcome of a criminal investigation.
Court records indicate the charges are related to Lucas' alleged Internet conversations with a youth. The youth sent several nude images of himself to Lucas, police said.
The youth, 16, was a TCAPS student at the time of the Internet chats. District officials contend no suspicious contact happened at school.
"The inappropriate contact was off-campus," TCAPS Human Resources Director Chris Davis said.''
