TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse County has a new administrator.
Former Midland County Administrator David Benda accepted Grand Traverse County's top job this morning, county board Chairman Larry Inman said. Benda accepted a 3-year contract offer with a starting salary of $110,735 a year, a figure the county board approved on Wednesday. He'll start June 18.
Benda said Thursday he was considering the county's offer and had no timetable for a decision. Inman said Benda reviewed the board's contract offer and contacted county Human Resources Director Jen Seman this morning to accept the position.
"He's excited about the opportunity," Inman said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come up here and be the administrator of Grand Traverse County."
